Judith studied music in Glasgow and Edinburgh and started out as a flute, piano and singing peripatetic teacher. She later returned to further education to complete a PGCE Primary Years and later a PGCE in Maths Specialist teaching.
Judith taught piano, flute and singing over a number of years and held a Director of Music post in a preparatory school in Stratford upon Avon.
After qualifying as a primary school teacher, Judith worked in this sector for thirteen years as a classroom teacher, head of key stage, maths and music leader and later as a deputy head and acting head.
Judith joined West Sussex Music in 2017 and has worked closely with senior leadership teams and music leaders across the county to support music education in their schools. Judith devised a whole class ensemble tuition programme for Key Stage 1 called GetIn2Music, which was modelled on the principles of Kodaly and Dalcroze and focuses on the enactive learning of the interrelated dimensions of music through pulse, rhythm, singing and the playing of instruments.
Judith currently leads the Alliance for a Musically Inclusive England programme for West Sussex Music and is working with a team of practitioners to develop a wholly inclusive ensemble offer – Orchestras Inc. – in West Sussex.
