West Sussex Music Celebrates another Successful Year at Annual Hub Partners Meeting

FRI 22 NOV 2019

Friends and partners of West Sussex Music gathered at The College of Richard Collyer on Saturday for the Horsham-based charity’s Annual Hub Partners Meeting. Guests enjoyed a tour of Horsham Music Centre and the chance to see the County Ensembles in rehearsal, as part of an event which saw West Sussex Music Hub reflecting on the many high-quality musical opportunities offered to children and young people over the last twelve months.

The event also marked the anniversary of the strategic partnership between West Sussex Music and Collyer’s which has seen a new venue for Horsham Music Centre and the West Sussex Youth Orchestras and Choirs, as well a new home for the administrative side of the charity itself. This partnership was further strengthened in September by the joint appointment of Ben Dowsett as Director of Music and the creation of the West Sussex Music Academy. This new music strand within the Collyer’s enrichment programme has been created for the benefit of Collyer’s students passionate about music and to support their wider musical education.

“I am hugely proud of the high-quality musical opportunities West Sussex Music Hub offers children and young people. During 2018-19 the Hub has nurtured, inspired and enriched the lives of more children than ever before. Our whole-class first access programmes, instrumental and vocal lessons, ensemble activities, singing and community projects, instrument loan, teacher training and large-scale events benefitted over 25,000 children; 4,000 more than last year.”Explains West Sussex Music Chief Executive, James Underwood. “It’s been wonderful to celebrate these achievements with our Hub Partners and supporters and to have the opportunity to showcase Horsham Music Centre’s talented young musiciansWe’re all looking forward to another exciting year ahead.”
