West Sussex Music Makes Strategic New Finance Appointments

TUE 26 MAR 2019

West Sussex Music has further strengthened its senior leadership team with the strategic appointment of Angela Croucher as Head of Finance. Assisting Angela in her day-to-day role is Accounts Manager Lisa Butterworth, also new to West Sussex Music. Together, they will deliver budgeting, financial reporting and business strategy for this vibrant music education charity, based in Horsham.

Angela joins the team with a wealth of experience working with local, national and international charities such as Friends of the Earth. Whilst her new role will focus mainly on projects, Angela will also help inform robust strategic and operational decision-making and will be conducting a thorough review of the charity's financial strategy. “In so many finance jobs, profit is the driver but in the charitable sector, it’s so much more than that. It’s about user experience, decision making and helping a charity to become a bit more commercial, whilst retaining its core values and I am delighted to be on board, helping West Sussex Music to fulfil its objective of making high quality music education available to all.” Said Angela Croucher.

With over 12 years of charity sector experience, working for large organisations such as BBC Children in Need, Comic Relief and NSPCC, Lisa has a wealth of corporate finance and fundraising experience and she will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the West Sussex Music Accounts team continues to provide an excellent service to both parents and schools.

“I am delighted to welcome both Angela and Lisa to the West Sussex Music team. Angela has an excellent track record in building sustainable partnerships and driving business change. Her first-hand experience in the not-for-profit sector will make her an invaluable addition to our senior leadership team. She will be greatly assisted in her role by Lisa, whose finance and fundraising background will enable us to deliver the financial and operational stability we need in order to fulfil our strategic objectives.” Adds West Sussex Music Chief Executive, James Underwood.

These strategic appointments come at the end of a significant year for West Sussex Music which has recently celebrated five years of being an independent charitable company since leaving the County Council. The charity has also embarked on a new strategic partnership with The College of Richard Collyer in Horsham which has already resulted in a new venue for Horsham Music Centre and the West Sussex Youth Orchestras and Choirs, as well now being the new home for the administrative side of the charity itself.
