KS3 Sings Live!

Sings Live is our FREE West Sussex secondary schools singing offer, which is aimed at KS3 students (11-14yr olds), school choirs (11-18 yr olds) and SEND secondary schools (11-18yr olds). The schools come together to perform 2 or 3 choral pieces as a mass choir. Schools should aim to bring at least 30 students.

We are proud and excited to be presenting the project in partnership with one of the UK’s finest professional choral groups, The Sixteen, who will be leading three choral workshops across the county in October. Schools can sign up for one of the following dates:

  • Wednesday 8th October, 10am-12pm: Ifield Community College, Crawley RH11 0DB
  • Thursday 16th October, 10am-12pm: Durrington High School, Worthing BN13 1JX
  • Monday 30th October, 10am-12pm: Bishop Luffa School, Chichester PO19 3LT

The Music

The three mass choir items are designed to be suitable for both teaching in the classroom for KS3 students or using in a school choir rehearsal. Schools will be provided with all learning resources for each song, which includes sheet music, learning tracks and
performance tracks. We request that the participating students sing the mass songs off-copy for the workshop.

Mass Songs:

  • Bright Morning Stars are Rising by the Wailin’ Jennys, arranged by Rachel Maby
  • Dona Nobis Pacem by Mozart

Dates for Sings Live 25/26 and related CPD will be announced shortly

What people are saying

“It was wonderful seeing the students’ genuine enthusiasm on the stage, it was heartwarming.  Looking forward to the next one!”

Emily Warner, Head of Music at the Forest School

“Our students will often not get the opportunity to be part of something like this, particularly with mainstream peers of the same age, or have the opportunity to perform in a venue like this evening, so giving them that experience, I’m sure will definitely stay with them forever.”

Kenny Park Lead teacher for the arts at Oak Grove College

“It’s such a great opportunity for our students to work with other schools and choir leaders, and have the opportunity to perform in a fantastic event with a large audience.”

Kellie Walden, Teacher of Music at Oscar Romero Catholic School

“Great community opportunity for students to work together as a year group and learn the skills required for successful performance”

Daniel Munt, Associate Assistant Principal at Ormiston Six Villages Academy

“I thought it was a superb event. Thoroughly enjoyable. I am always very glad to advocate the power of music in education – it is a real force for good for our young people.”

Lee Walker, Headteacher of Imberhorne School
