Based on the latest guidance from Ofsted, we review how to prepare for a deep dive, what makes good evidence, what to expect on the day and how to maximise the opportunity for music.

Model Music Curriculum

First published in 2021, the Model Music Curriculum illustrates a progressive pathway for music through KS1, KS2 and KS3. In this session we review the aspirations of the curriculum and how we can use it to support us in developing our own school’s curriculum music.

The session will cover a range of issues facing Heads of Music, from curriculum priorities and developing your co-curricular offer, to workload management. There will also be an update on Ofsted’s latest report on Music. Although particularly useful for newer Heads of Music, it is open to all music teachers.

Classroom instrumental lessons (CIL): getting the most from your programme

This session is for class teachers supporting a whole-class instrumental programme in their school. Teachers will come away with top tips on how to maximise the impact of the programme and enrich their music curriculum.

Using games to teach notation
