Playing it cool
The school summer holidays kicked off with a series of incredible musical holiday activities across four locations in West Sussex.
Children and young people took part in holiday activities that included Rap & Lyric Writing in Bognor Regis, Music Production & DJ in Bognor Regis and Crawley, Rock and Pop Band in Worthing, and Interactive Soundtrack and Music Creation in Horsham and Worthing, all organised by West Sussex Music.
The activities took place from Wednesday 23 – Wednesday 30 July where over 180 spaces were filled with children and young people keen to create music.
The variety of activities attracted many children and young people from all over the county who aren’t necessarily involved in regular music lessons but are keen to make music with others at these sessions.
Elizabeth Leondaritis, Youth Engagement Manager for West Sussex Music said:
“The young people who come to the holiday activities are passionate about music and want to explore what they hear their favourite bands and DJs creating. It’s great for us at West Sussex Music to be able to provide these opportunities outside of term time to help families looking for high quality activities to keep their children occupied.”
All participants received a Digital Badge after completing the workshops. Digital badges are innovative, visual representations of skills, achievements, or certifications earned online allowing individuals to showcase their accomplishments across platforms, enhancing credibility and engagement.
The next holiday activities will be on 22 and 23 December, sign up for more information here.
