Sarah has played in a variety of musical settings and in a multitude of styles including classical, contemporary, jazz, pop, chamber and orchestral. As well as this, Sarah has a passion for exploring and using a range of extended techniques on the flute and piccolo and enjoys implementing them into the music she plays.
Over the last six years, Sarah has also played across the country in musical theatre pits. Some of the recent shows she has played include Fiddler on the Roof, Legally Blonde, Shrek: The Musical and The Addam’s Family. In 2024, Sarah also took part in one of the London Musical Theatre Orchestra’s monthly Sitz events playing through Jesus Christ Superstar. For five years, Sarah also managed and played for a Big Band that performed throughout London and the South East.
In 2024 Sarah was awarded Young Artist of the Year by the British Flute Society after winning their annual competition in Birmingham with her performance of ‘Voice’ by Toru Takemitsu. With this, she was also the first recipient of the William Bennett Prize.
In the summer of 2024, Sarah took part in the Hesse Scheme at the Aldeburgh Festival where she performed at Benjamin Britten’s house as well as helped run events for acts such as the Kanneh-Mason’s and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
Sarah has been teaching flute, recorder, saxophone and music theory since 2023 and has prepared students for music exams through tailored, fun and engaging lessons. All of Sarah’s ABRSM students to date have achieved a high merit or distinction grade.
