Education & training

Nathaniel spent four years at the University of Chichester studying Music Performance and specialising in Orchestral Conducting.

He has a BMus (Hons) in Music Performance from Chichester University and an  ATCL diploma.

Skills & experience

Brought up in Dorset, and now based in Sussex, music has been Nathaniel’s passion since picking up the trumpet for the first time at the age of 11.

Since university he has been developing a great base of students, teaching beginners through to grade 8 in school and privately throughout Mid-Sussex. Nathaniel is passionate about young people playing together and is the assistant director of Davison Worthing Youth Concert Band. He has also keenly involved myself with student ensembles.

10 years of conducting experiences has led Nathaniel into various adult and student ensembles including the University of Chichester Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra.

Testimonials

Nathaniel and my son have an excellent teacher/pupil relationship and he always manages to get the right balance between fun and learning. From what I have seen in the past, and more recently heard on Zoom!, Nathaniel has a calm, reassuring tone and my son says that he always explains things to him clearly so that he understands them. My son wasn’t very confident when he first started learning the trumpet but Nathaniel was able to instil the confidence he needed to not only take but also pass Grade 1 at the age of 9. Despite not seeing each other face to face for the best part of a year, Nathaniel has encouraged and motivated my son to practice and the progress he’s made can clearly be seen and heard!       Parent of trumpet pupil
