Free taster session

Are you aged 11–16 and dream of creating your own beats, backing tracks or vocal recordings? Whether you’re a singer, rapper, or songwriter, now’s your chance to explore the exciting world of music production with a free taster session from West Sussex Music in partnership with Education & Bass. 

The course begins on Tuesday 16 September, but before it starts, students can experience a free online taster session on Tuesday 9 September, led by international DJ and music producer Andrew Ferguson, also known as Nomine. 

This dynamic and interactive course gives aspiring musicians the skills to create their own music from scratch. Whether you’re a singer, rapper, songwriter or just love music, this course provides hands-on training in the techniques used by professionals across the industry. 

Students who took part in the first course have given overwhelmingly positive feedback including, “My son loves it, thinks Andrew is great and really feels he’s learning new things”. 

Andrew Ferguson brings more than 30 years’ experience as a touring artist and producer. He is the founder of Education & Bass, a respected record label owner, and holds both a Master’s Degree in Advanced Music Technology and a teaching qualification. Andrew is known for his practical, student-focused approach and deep industry knowledge.

  • Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) 
  • Beat-making and rhythm 
  • Sound design and synthesis 
  • Audio and MIDI sequencing 
  • Beginner music theory 
  • Recording techniques 
  • Mixing and mastering  
  • Creating full, polished tracks  

The course runs online every Tuesday from 4.15pm to 5.15pm, starting 16 September. It is open to all young people aged 11–16 and costs £78 per term. No previous experience is required, just a passion for music and creativity.
