Education & training

Holly holds a Certificate of Higher Education in Music Performance from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She is currently studying for a Bachelor of Music (BMus) in Music Performance specialising in Clarinet and Woodwind Trebling at the University of Chichester.

Skills & experience

Holly began playing the clarinet at the age of five, later expanding her skills to include flute and saxophone. She began teaching at thirteen and has since developed a strong focus on both performance and education. As a young musician, she performed with ensembles from the Oxfordshire County Music Service at venues such as Dorchester Abbey, Birmingham Symphony Hall, and the Menin Gate. A highlight of this period was performing at the Royal Albert Hall with the OCMS Buddy Orchestra, an experience that led her to create a free clarinet club for students in her community. Due to her commitments to this orchestra and her subsequent work in the community, Holly won the Music Hub Gala Award for Student Helper of the Year.

Holly later joined the Northamptonshire County Youth Concert Band. During her time there, she had the opportunity to premiere her original composition Berona in 2022. She also, during this time, received a Gold Award on clarinet at the Milton Keynes Festival of the Arts.

She studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where she trained in clarinet under Douglas Mitchell and Anna Hashimoto, and in woodwind trebling under Paul Saunders (Wicked). She now continues her studies at the University of Chichester Conservatoire.

Alongside her academic work, Holly is active as a teacher and performer. She regularly works in musical theatre, with recent productions including Annie, Bonnie and Clyde, The Wizard of Oz, Shrek, and An American in Paris. She performs with multiple orchestras and holds the 1st Alto and Solo Clarinet chair with the Sleepy Lagoon Orchestra, appearing at events such as Riviera Swing, Goodwood Revival and more.
