Skills & experience

Luca first joined the West Sussex Music family in 2012 on the clarinet as part of the Horsham Concert Band Orchestra. Fourteen years later, he enthusiastically returns to the WSM Youth Wind Orchestra orchestras to now act as their principal conductor.

As a passionate advocate for the music and musicians of today, Luca is committed to championing new works and emerging voices. In the first four years alone since joining the Royal College of Music, he premiered over fifteen new solo and chamber compositions, including a newly commissioned recorder concerto written for him by composer Thomas Shorthouse, which was debuted by his local symphony orchestra, the Horsham Symphony Orchestra.

However, it is through Luca’s own innovative and highly praised ensemble – the ‘Causeway Chamber Orchestra’ (CCO) – that young soloists are invited to perform under his baton, with the orchestra focusing specifically on bringing new narratives to music from the Enlightenment era and promoting rising talent through concerto opportunities.
