Strike the right note
September isn’t just for buying new pencil cases and sharpening pencils, it’s a time for fresh starts and trying something new. For children and young people across West Sussex, it’s also the perfect moment to begin a musical journey.
West Sussex Music (WSM) offers individual and group lessons for a huge range of instruments, from orchestral favourites like the violin, cello and flute, to contemporary choices like guitar, keyboard and drum kit. Budding jazz musicians can find their groove on the trumpet or saxophone whilst aspiring vocalists can develop their singing with expert guidance. We even offer lessons in composition, theory and song writing.
Whatever your child’s musical ambition, whether it’s classical, contemporary, or something in-between, there’s a WSM teacher ready to help them discover their sound.
Because getting started doesn’t have to mean a big investment, West Sussex Music has a wide selection of instruments available to hire at low cost.
Instrument hire is just £36.40 a term, subsidised through Music Hub funding from Arts Council England, and if your child is entitled to free school meals or is a child in care, it’s free or discounted. From baritone to cello, euphonium to guitar, oboe to violin, there’s an instrument for almost every letter of the alphabet!
James Underwood, Chief Executive, West Sussex Music, said:
‘September is the perfect time to start something new. Learning an instrument isn’t just about music, it builds confidence and creativity and can open the door to lifelong friendships and opportunities. At West Sussex Music, we’re passionate about making music accessible for every child, whatever their background or experience, and we can’t wait to welcome the next generation of young musicians this term.’
If your child is ready to take their first step into music, or to try something completely new, now’s the time to begin.
