Crawley Music Centre reopens!

We’re thrilled to announce that on Friday 9 January we reopened our music centre in Crawley, four years after we had to put activities on hold because of the pandemic.

The new centre is based at The Mill Primary Academy in Ifield and is a perfect location for West Sussex Music’s new music centre home.

We could think of no better way to open the new centre than with the 2026 Tomorrow’s Orchestra Programme (TOP26) cohort. TOP26 has been designed to take students on a journey from absolute beginner to orchestral musician within a few months, as well as introducing them to the thrill of playing together on stage. TOP26 is free in the first term with lessons and instrument loan remaining free of charge with the music centre membership in terms 2 & 3.

TOP26 is running across all of West Sussex Music’s centres – in Bognor Regis, Chichester, Crawley, Horsham, Midhurst, and Worthing – so it seemed fitting that it would be the first course to run at the new centre and the first day in the building was busy!

More than 35 children have signed up to take part in the Crawley TOP26, but there are a few more spaces still available.

James Underwood, Chief Executive for West Sussex Music, said, “This is an exciting moment for us. Before it was put on pause, Crawley Music Centre was our longest running music centre so you can imagine how we’re delighted to reopen it, starting with TOP26!

It was wonderful to meet all the new students and their parents & carers” who have all taken their first steps on an exciting musical adventure.”

We can’t wait to welcome even more new faces through the doors and continue to increase access to high-quality and affordable music-making.
