Young people in Worthing had the opportunity to learn from the very best when they took part in the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Overture Day recently.
Over 30 young people aged 10-15 took up the opportunity of the free day with the LPO, a Sussex Music Hub partner.
During the day the young people played alongside LPO musicians, got tips on musicianship and found out what happens behind the scenes of a professional orchestra.
Talia Lash, Education Director at the LPO, said:
“It was a pleasure to be back in Worthing making music with young people in the area! Thank you so much for partnering with us on this project. We are already looking forward to next year.”
LPO Junior Artists: Overture projects are free, immersive orchestral days for 10-15 year old instrumentalists, taking a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at the world of a professional orchestra.
James Underwood, Chief Executive for West Sussex Music, said:
“We are incredibly fortunate to have these exceptional partners to work with, offering amazing opportunities to children and young people in West Sussex often at low cost – or in this case free. We’re thrilled with how much they all enjoyed it and look forward to doing it all again next year!”
