West Sussex Youth Wind Orchestra

County Ensemble

The West Sussex Youth Wind Orchestra forms a key part of the county’s musical progression pathway, leading into the prestigious West Sussex Youth Orchestra. Performances include the finals of the Music for Youth National Festival at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, in venues across West Sussex and toured Europe.

Who can join?  Grade 5 and above

When does the orchestra take place? Rehearsals take place on Saturdays during term-time at Horsham Music Centre, c/o Millais School, Depot Road, RH13 5HR

Urban Brass

Urban Brass is a dynamic brass ensemble, offering young players the chance to perform bold, exciting music in a fun and high-energy group setting.

Recent performances (2024/5) include: Chichester Music Festival, Bognor Regis Football Club

VINCE GODFREY | Conductor
Vincent is a professional woodwind player and conductor.

He has been teaching pupils aged between 7-77 since 2012 in various settings from primary schools up to specialist music schools. Vincent has been working for West Sussex Music since July 2021 and conducts the West Sussex Training Wind Orchestra and West Sussex Youth Wind Orchestra.

Outside of teaching Vincent enjoys a varied freelance career as a performer, arranger and educator and has played and conducted in commercial recording sessions in London. Highlights of his performing career include: Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Belgium Cathedral, and Carnegie Hall in New York.
