NYO Unleashed

THU 22 MAR 2018

NYO Unleased

Between 6-8 April our National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain – the world’s greatest orchestra of teenagers – is taking over Southbank Centre for a weekend of live music and free events for teenagers, and I strongly encourage you to be there to be inspired and enjoy some fantastic music!

On 8 April NYO gives its first ever concert inspired and led by teenagers in what will be an electrifying live music experience. Hear music from The Hunger Games, march into battle with the Star Wars stormtroopers, dance to the wild Latin beats of Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, and chill to the cool electronica of Mason Bates’ Mothership.

On 6 and 7 April the huge orchestral forces of NYO and Chineke! Junior Orchestra join massed choirs, a marching band, rock band, actors, singers and dancers in a performance of Bernstein’s MASS. The piece bridges the gap between classical and popular music on an epic scale and will be an unforgettable evening.

Tickets are just £5 (plus booking fee) for all under-25s attending the performance on 8 April. You can also claim a 20% discount for groups of 10 people or more – so bring your friends! To book tickets, call the Box Office on 020 3879 9555 or visit

Teen Hangout

Make sure you also go along to NYO’s welcome event which is exclusively for teenagers (ages 11+ welcome!) and a fantastic opportunity for you and your friends to chat to NYO Musicians and relax before or after the concert. It’s hosted by NYO Young Promoters who are students from local London schools, and takes place on 8 April between 4.15-45.45pm and 6-6.30pm in The Clore Ballroom on Level 2 of the Royal Festival Hall.

Hope to see you there!
