Sunday 16 November, 6.00pm - 7.00pm - Andrew Gant - Christmas Carols

With Christmas just around the corner, who can resist a carol? Along with mince pies and mulled wine, they are guaranteed to put you in the Christmas spirit even if we’re still a few weeks out from the official ‘season of goodwill’. Whether it’s at Midnight Mass or the school carol
concert, or listening to the spine-tingling opening solo to ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ from King’s College’s Christmas Eve broadcast, the urge to join in is just irresistible.

But where exactly does that magic come from? In his book, Christmas Carols, Andrew Gant, composer, choirmaster, church musician, university teacher and writer, tells the story of some twenty carols, unravelling a captivating tale of great musicians and thinkers, saints and pagans, shepherd boys, choirboys, monks and drunks. In so doing he tells the tale of 'Good King Wenceslas', 'Away in a Manger', 'The Twelve Days of Christmas', 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing' and 'O Little Town of Bethlehem'.

Andrew will be at the Leconfield Hall.
