Midhurst is TOP!

Has your child ever talked about learning an instrument? Are you based near to Midhurst?

West Sussex Music is inviting children aged 7–11 to give music-making a try this autumn with a free one-term introduction to its Tomorrow’s Orchestra Programme at Midhurst Music Centre.

Designed especially for complete beginners, the programme gives children the chance to pick up an instrument, learn the basics and experience the fun of making music alongside other young people.

The Tomorrow’s Orchestra Programme – or TOP for short – is usually a year-long musical journey, taking children from their very first notes to playing together as part of an orchestra. It includes instrumental learning and the chance to discover what happens when a group of young musicians all make music together.

But at Midhurst, families are being offered the chance to try it for a term, completely free.

John Randall, Music Centres Manager at West Sussex Music, who oversees TOP, said:

“Starting something new can feel like a big commitment, particularly if your child has never played an instrument before. We want to give children in Midhurst the chance to simply come along, have a go and discover whether making music is something they love. There’s no experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to give it a try.”

Sessions will take place on Tuesdays from 4.30pm–6pm at Midhurst Music Centre, based at Midhurst Rother College.

Children will have the opportunity to explore orchestral instruments including strings, woodwind and brass, learn alongside other beginners and discover the excitement of making music together. This one term offer includes a free weekly group lesson, free instrument loan, and free orchestral session.

Our TOPs have helped hundreds of children over the last few years begin their musical journeys, with young musicians going on to perform, join bands and orchestras and, in many cases, discover a passion they might never have known they had.

Places are now available for the free one-term TOP at Midhurst Music Centre.
