Ignacio started his guitar studies with Maestros Robert Ravera, Eduardo Isaac and Eduardo Fernandez and graduated from the University of the Republic of Uruguay with a degree in Instrumental Performance BMus (Hons) under the tutelage of Mario Paysee. After graduating he emigrated to the United States where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Music Performance on a full scholarship graduating with the highest qualifications  at the University of Wisconsin under the direction of Rene Izquierdo. Subsequently, he pursued doctoral studies, on a full scholarship, completing his residency at Northwestern University. He has also completed Postgraduate Studies in Interpretation with Marc Regnier at the College of Charleston and with Graham Anthony Devine at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.

Ignacio is also a certified Suzuki instructor having received his training from the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

Skills & experience

Ignacio has offered guitar concerts as a soloist and in various chamber groups in South America, the United States and Europe.

For more than ten years he formed the Milwaukee Guitar Duo with the Cuban virtuoso Edel Muñoz with whom he recorded the album All Times Guitar Duets accompanied by multiple duo concerts in various states of the United States.  His live recording of Leo Brouwer’s Danzas Concertantes with the North American pianist Matthew Parker was chosen and broadcast by National Public Radio in the United States.

Ignacio has been a professor at the National Education Administration, and was an academic assistant at the Universities of Wisconsin and Northwestern University. In England he was a lead teacher at Berkshire Maestros and currently teaches guitar at Wilson’s School and West Sussex Music while keeping an active private studio. He is currently an Associate director of the Camino Artes Guitar Workshop. An immersive week long guitar seminar for advanced students and professionals in the heart of the Camino de Santiago, Spain.
