John is West Sussex Music’s Music Centres Manager.

As a teacher John has taught brass students at all levels, and as a director has enjoyed coaching ensembles at a national level in Germany, Spain and Cyprus. Previous to working for West Sussex Music John was the Head of Brass for Dorset Music Service, successfully establishing many brass and wind ensembles, some of which went on to represent the county in national festivals and competitions.

As a trombonist John has worked with many of the UK’s professional orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. As well as this he played trombone with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra for over 10 years, visiting concert houses and opera houses across the globe, including La Scala, the Sydney Opera House, and the Royal Albert Hall.
