Education & training

Erin has been playing the violin and piano since the age of 7.  As an active member of her local county music service, during her school years, she led both junior and intermediate orchestras, taking the position as co-lead in the youth orchestra.

Studying music locally at University of Chichester Erin continued her violin tuition with John Ludlow and then Rita French where she majored in performance, gaining a 2:1 BA (Hons).  Erin also won the Marjory Garrigue prize for Outstanding Contribution to Ensemble Playing in her final year as leader of the University String Ensemble and Orchestra.  Her time at university saw her perform three of Mozart’s Operas alongside many choral and chamber ensemble activities.

Skills & experience

Erin has been teaching in West Sussex for nearly 20 yrs with a large proportion of those years under the West Sussex Music umbrella.  During her time as a teacher she has taught individual and group lessons, WCET projects and directed string ensembles at beginner, junior and intermediate level.  Now, as an Associate of WSM, Erin continues to work in schools teaching and delivering WCET first access programmes as well as teaching from her home studio and playing as a freelance musician.

Testimonials

Testimonials

Jess has been taught by Erin for several years.  Jess thoroughly enjoys her lessons with Erin and looks forward to them each week.  Erin is a kind supportive and knowledgeable violin teacher – most recently helping Jess to achieve a Merit in her Grade 5 violin exam. We were also delighted that Jess has been able to continue her lessons virtually with Erin throughout the recent pandemic.             Parent
