Legendary brass group plays first date in the south, 50% off tickets for all music students

Lovers of brass music are in for a treat this autumn when the legendary James Shepherd Versatile Brass makes its first visit to the south in over 30 years.

The Yorkshire-based group is made up of 10 musicians  at the very highest level of brass playing in the UK. Its leader, James Shepherd, is the one of the most respected cornet and trumpet players in the world – the only brass player to have won the coveted award of Champion Soloist of Great Britain in three consecutive years.

The group will be performing at Uckfield Civic Centre on Saturday 1st November at 7.30pm. The audience can expect a wide range of musical styles played with vibrant virtuosity and the highest standards of technical proficiency and artistic musicality.

James Shepherd Versatile Brass was formed in 1972 and performed around the world for 40 years, at venues from the Royal Albert Hall to a tour of Australia. The group recorded nearly 20 albums, all featuring music written specially for the group.

After a break during the 2000s, James Shepherd reformed Versatile Brass in 2013. The early concerts with a mixture of long-standing players and new talent have attracted rave reviews. Among the plaudits so far have been:
