Festival vibes

West Sussex Music’s Youth String Orchestra delivered a vibrant and engaging performance at the Worthing Festival on Friday 16 June, showcasing the talent and dedication of young musicians from across the county.

The Youth String Orchestra presented a varied programme that highlighted both their technical skill and musical expression including a very confident ensemble delivery to the gathered audience and varied dynamic contrast.

The ensemble, made up of talented string players is one of West Sussex Music’s flagship groups, bringing together students from a range of schools and backgrounds.

The performance formed part of the wider Worthing Festival programme, which celebrates arts and culture across the region, and provided an exciting platform for young performers to share their music with a public audience.

Paul Smyth, Assistant Head at West Sussex Music, said, “We are incredibly proud of the Orchestra’s performance at Worthing Festival. It was a fantastic opportunity for these young musicians to perform in a professional setting and to be part of such a well-loved community event.”

The Youth String Orchestra rehearses regularly as part of West Sussex Music’s ensemble programme, which aims to inspire young people through high-quality musical experiences, performance opportunities, and progression pathways.

Their appearance at Worthing Festival reflects West Sussex Music’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young talent and enriching the cultural life of the community.
