Families across Worthing and Crawley are being encouraged to book free summer holiday music activities through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, delivered by West Sussex Music.
The programme offers fully funded places for children and young people who receive benefit-related free school meals, providing an exciting opportunity to learn new skills, make friends and enjoy high-quality music-making experiences during the summer holidays. A free lunch is included for all participants.
Developed in collaboration with young people, the programme features a range of creative opportunities designed to inspire aspiring musicians, producers and performers. Whether participants are interested in rap, music production or playing in a band, there is something to ignite their creativity this summer.
Rap and Music Production – Bognor Regis
Young people in the Bognor Regis area can also take part in Rap and Music Production workshops on 23 and 24 July at Bognor Regis Music Centre, based at The Phoenix Centre. These sessions offer the same opportunity to explore songwriting, rap performance and music production using professional equipment and guidance from experienced tutors.
Rap and Music Production – Crawley
Taking place from 27 to 29 July at Crawley Music Centre, based at The Mill Primary Academy, these sessions will introduce young people to the fundamentals of rap and music production through practical, hands-on workshops.
Participants will explore rhythm, flow and lyrical storytelling while learning beat-making, sound design and track arrangement using professional music technology. No previous experience is required, and all equipment will be provided.
Play In A Band – Worthing
Running from 27 to 29 July at Worthing Music Centre, Northbrook College, Play In A Band is designed for young musicians who have already begun learning an instrument and are ready to take the next step.
Participants will work together to form their own rock and pop bands, developing ensemble skills and confidence while rehearsing and performing with others. Whether they are singers, guitarists, bassists, drummers or keyboard players, there will be a role for everyone.
Free Places Available
Children and young people who receive benefit-related free school meals can attend free of charge through HAF funding.
As well as receiving a free lunch each day, every participant who completes the workshops will earn a Digital Badge – a visual recognition of the skills, achievements and experiences gained during the programme.
With places expected to fill quickly, families are encouraged to book as soon as possible. Paid places are also open to those not qualifying and cost £39 per day.
