West Sussex Music is getting set for the new academic year after bringing its team together for a day of training, inspiration and professional development.
With September marking the start of a new school year for children and young people across the county, it was also time for the West Sussex Music team to get back into the swing of things, coming together to share ideas, develop their skills and prepare for another year of music-making across West Sussex.
The training day gave teachers the opportunity to learn, collaborate and reflect on their work supporting children and young people to access and enjoy music, both in schools and through WSM’s music centres and workshops.
On the day staff from across the charity worked on strategies to support small group teaching to enable even more children and young people to access the joy of learning an instrument or to sing. There were also sessions on safeguarding and national updates and the day ended with everyone playing their instruments.
James Underwood, Chief Executive for West Sussex Music, said, “Our staff training day is a great opportunity to reconnect at the start of a new academic year. We’re always developing as an organisation, and that means we can continue to give children and young people across West Sussex the very best opportunities to experience the joy of making music. We have such talented and inspirational teachers and it’s a privilege to learn together.”
Back to school, back to music
