Young drummers from West Sussex Music brought the beat to Bognor Regis last weekend, performing to festival audiences at the Southdowns Music Festival.
Members of West Sussex Music’s Drum Lab took to the stage at the festival, showcasing their energy, enthusiasm and musical skills in a performance that gave the young musicians the chance to experience the excitement of performing live.
Drum Lab is one of West Sussex Music’s ensembles for young musicians, giving budding drummers the opportunity to develop their playing, learn alongside other young people and build confidence as performers.
The Southdowns Music Festival performance was a fantastic opportunity for the group to take their skills out of the rehearsal room and onto a festival stage, sharing their music with a live audience.
John Randall, Music Centres Manager who oversees Drum Lab, said: “This was an incredible opportunity for our Drum Lab members to perform to the public, and they had a great time doing it. Thank you to the festival organisers for including us.”
The performance also highlights the range of opportunities available to young musicians through West Sussex Music, with groups and ensembles providing a chance to make music with others, develop new skills and perform in exciting venues and events.
West Sussex Music is currently welcoming new members to both Drum Lab and Young Voices, so there are opportunities for young musicians to get involved, whether they already play an instrument or simply love making music.
Drum Lab offers students a new musical experience, providing an opportunity for the many young students who want to play drums/percussion instruments in a fun, safe, and exciting group. For young singers, West Sussex Young Voices is a treble voice choir that provides younger singers, aged 9yrs to 13yrs with the foundations they need to become outstanding choral singers. This includes learning to sing in parts, music reading skills and developing their individual voices. No previous experience is necessary, just a love of singing and a willingness to learn. Young Voices meets at Bognor Regis, Horsham and Worthing.
There are currently places available in Drum Lab and Young Voices, with new members welcome to join.
