There are still spaces available for children and young people with additional needs to join West Sussex Music’s inclusive Orchestras Inc. groups in Horsham and Worthing this autumn.
For families who may have missed the start of the new term, it’s not too late to discover Orchestras Inc. our welcoming, SEND-friendly music group where young people can explore music, try new things and have fun together.
Orchestras Inc. is open to children and young people aged 8 to 25 with special educational needs or disabilities, whether they attend a special or mainstream school or college, are home educated, or are not currently in education.
We provide instruments for use in the sessions but welcome young people bringing any instruments they enjoy playing at home.
Sessions are designed to give everyone the opportunity to take part at their own pace, exploring instruments, sounds, rhythm and movement in a supportive environment. Young people can experiment with different ways of making music, develop confidence and communication skills, and enjoy being part of a musical community.
Alison Sutton, Assistant Head and Inclusion Lead at West Sussex Music, said: “Orchestras Inc. is about providing a safe space where young people and their parent/carer can explore and develop musical skills together and with others. No experience is needed – just a love for music making!
She added, “We see young people trying new things, finding their own ways to participate and, importantly, having fun together. There are still spaces available this term, and we’d love as many families as possible to come and experience Orchestras Inc. for themselves.”

Sessions are free, and young people can attend as many sessions as possible in whichever location works best for them. All participants will receive a digital badge at the end of the short course.
Parents and carers are required to accompany their young person and support them throughout the session.
Whether a young person already loves music or has never picked up an instrument before, Orchestras Inc. offers a wonderful chance to explore music without pressure and alongside other young people.
